Here's the Willow Vest of Frozen Wrath.
I like this better than a robe. She looks more formidable. Monsters beware.

Mages and Robes
Mages in World of Warcraft seem to wear robes for the most part. I'm not sure if it's because of the look, or the stats.
This one didn't last long. I replaced it rather quickly with the Willow Vest of Frozen Wrath. It adds a +10 to my frost spells and as a frost mage this is a good thing.

Doomguard
My new Mage is currently based in Goldshire. I think every immature player in WOW is based here. They spend a large portion of their time online hanging out in the square, dueling each other, and saying stupid things. That said, it can be fun to stand back and watch the show.
This is the demon Doomguard. The square dwellers fought him over and over last night, somewhere at the other end of the keyboard you have to wonder if the alcohol is flowing.

Making a Mage
After spending the first few weeks as a Druid, I wanted to try another character. Thus far I've taken this new character to level 9.
I have to say I enjoy playing a Druid much better, maybe that will change. Of course my Everquest character was a Druid, so maybe I am biased.
There is one nice option to having a second character, sharing gear, and gold. All that cloth armor that I sold before, now has a use.

Warcraft Bikini Armor?
The tuxedo seems to be all the rage in Warcraft fashion, I saw a couple last night.
I also saw one of these. The armor bikini.
Actually the bikini outfit is your female character with NO ARMOR, which is really dumb, but an option nevertheless. Welcome to WoW.
BTW, this is my new Mage, Karrah.
I'm thinking maybe blonde hair was a bad choice, but I don't think green was an option.

Buying Cool Stuff on Ebay (I mean the Auction House)
Warcraft has it's own version of Ebay, The Auction House. After you accumulate silver and gold, you can drop in and bid on weapon and armor upgrades, and even things like cats and parrots.
You can also sell those things you don't need, or that you acquired from whomping monsters.
I never concentrated much on a weapon, being primarily a spell caster, but yesterday I picked up this staff. I was surprised how big a difference it made. When the monsters broke my root spell and charged in, it helped a lot to be able to take them down with a couple of whacks.
The staff in the picture is a Dwarven Magestaff of the Wolf. In addition to more clobbering power, it gave a big boost to intellect and spirit, both useful attributes for someone who spends a lot of time tossing spells.
Of course, as I mentioned before, upgrades may boost attributes, but at the same time they can also look really bad. What's with those gloves?

How Do You Sleep?
There seem to be beds everywhere in The World of Warcraft.
Why?
Though you can make your character sleep, it doesn't matter where they choose to grab some shuteye. Sleep doesn't have a significant role in the game.
The ships you can use to travel back and forth between continents feature these cool rope hammocks. I don't know why you need them, but your cat form can climb right in and take a nap.

Blasting Beasties
Watching the Fireworks
I think the best part about World of Warcraft is the wide variety of things to do. You can explore, go on quests, beat up monsters, spend your hard earned gold, or you can just watch.
Last night I watched a raid. Five level seventy characters attacked Menethil Harbor . Though they were defeated multiple times, they gave a good showing and it was fun to watch, if a little chaotic. Sadly, I don't have any good pictures, it was hard to capture what was going on. With all the spells being attempted, in many ways it was like the Fourth of July. And no, I didn't enter the fray, a level 22 amongst all those high level characters isn't going to help much.
